Do Not Worry About Tomorrow

READ

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34 NIV

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT

I’ve found that when I’m feeling overwhelmed and need to rest, I don’t want to. Chances are I’m overwhelmed because my to-do list is endless and I’m that kind of tired where you just want to cry. It’s then I just want to bulldoze my way through and get stuff done. My thinking is the more stuff I get done, the less overwhelmed I will feel.

But I’ve found when I do this I become frustrated, more tired, and my work pays for it. Many times, it’s best to shut the laptop, leave the living room dirty, and simply rest. And this type of rest requires a deep level of trust in God. A trust that believes God will give me the strength to conquer it all tomorrow. A trust that actually believes God can handle tomorrow.

I’m reminded of Matthew 6:35 where Jesus tells us “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (NIV) If you’re overwhelmed and need rest today, I want to encourage you to trust God with the rest you need today and know that whatever happens tomorrow, Jesus already has it covered.

PRAY

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the power to handle tomorrow. I pray for the faith to trust You with today. In Jesus Christ Name I pray. Amen.
