When I first became a Christian I really didn’t want to hear anything about spiritual warfare. I just wanted Jesus. I didn’t ask for any war. And if I can be honest with you, I was scared. Talk of an enemy that wanted to kill, steal, and destroy me wasn’t something I wanted to think about. Interestingly enough, the enemy didn’t want me thinking about it either. This way I’d be an easy target for his schemes and tricks, not prepared or ready for the plans he had to harm me.
No one wants to go to war, but if you’re a follower of Christ, one has already been waged against you.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. – Ephesians 6:11 ESV
Either we will fight, or we open ourselves up to be devoured. Now, my life is not only about me, so an attack on me is also an attack on my marriage, my children, and the thousands of women I serve every day here at Beloved.
So instead of sitting on the sidelines, I’ve decided to suit up and fight back. My guess is you too can’t afford to allow the enemy to have his way in your life.
